    Study Higher works in schools in the local Banbury area delivering and organising a range of activities to help inspire students.   They are hosting a free event for parents on Saturday 21st April focused on "Supporting your child with their revision" -  the session being led by one of our partners Positively Mad .   Spaces are limited and are first come, first served.  Refreshaments available.

  • Mobile Phones

    We have noticed an increase in mobile phone usage around school which we would like to address.  Our school policy states that all mobile phones should be switched off and kept in school bags for the duration of the school day.  This includes break and lunch time.  The only exception to this would be if a teacher invited a student to use their phone as part of the lesson.  If a student needs to contact home, they should do this via reception.

    Mr Long shared a piece of research with our students in Assembly on Monday which showed that banning the use of mobile phones in schools can improve test scores by 6.4%, with the impact on under-achieving students being even more significant, with their average test score rising by 14% [according to a study by the London School of Economics].   All students have been reminded of our school policy on mobile phones this morning. 

    In accordance with our policy, if after a reminder, students are still using their phone, it will be confiscated for the remainder of the day.  Staff will record the matter and if a pattern emerges of someone not meeting our expectations, we will contact home.

  • Wonderful success for BGN students on A Level and GCSE results days

    We congratulate all our Year 13 students, over three quarters of whom achieved A* to C in all their A Levels and are now moving on to top universities to study a wide range of degree courses including architecture, computer science, fashion, film, languages, history, maths and law.  We are particularly delighted that 54% of grades achieved were B or above.  Robert Napiorkowski gained an A*, A* A and Distinction Star, Ella Shawyer obtained A*, A, Distinction Star and Charlotte Riley achieved A*, A, A and will go on to study veterinary medicine and surgery.  We are also really pleased with our interim AS grades for Year 12: 70% of the year group are already achieving grades of C or above with another year to go.      Headline figures:    A*-B   54% -   A*-C   78%  -    A*-E   98%.


    Congratulations to our Year 11s who have achieved wonderful results in their GCSEs this year.   72% of our pupils gained A*-C in English and Maths, with 67% gaining five GCSEs including English and Maths at A*-C.  Well done to all our students and the staff that support them for these tremendous results.  The progress of this year's Year 11 is excellent.  There are many individual success stories with a number of students gaining As and A*s.
