< Return to previous page

3rd July 2008

Dear Parents / Guardian

I would like to take this opportunity to express the pleasure I have experienced during the past four days with our new intake boys and girls and very much look forward to their arrival in September. They seem to have settled in very well and I have received many positive comments from members of staff with regard to their willingness to learn and good behaviour.

The new school term begins on Wednesday 3rd September and all Year 7 pupils are expected to be in full school uniform, with black shoes, navy blue or black socks/tights and smart hair. School starts at 8.40am. With effect from September 2008 school will end at 3.20 each day with the exception of Wednesdays, when there will be an early closure time of 2.15pm. PLEASE NOTE : THE YEAR 7`S FIRST DAY IN SCHOOL WILL END AT 2.15PM.

Some dates for your diary:

Tues 30th Sept - Photographs with School Photography
Thurs 25th Sept - Year 7 Welcome Mass – 7.00pm
Mon 24th Nov to Fri 28th Nov - Alton Castle Trip.

I would also like to express a few important points:

• I have high expectations of all my year group.

• Pupils are not allowed to have chewing gum in school.

• Tipp-Ex or any other correction fluid is not to be used.

• The only jewellery allowed is a simple cross and chain and one stud-type earring in each ear and these should be removed for PE lessons. No rings on hands. If you intend to have your child’s ears pierced could you please do this at the beginning of the holidays to allow time for healing before the new school year starts.

• Trainers are only to be worn in PE lessons.

• Navy blazers with the school badge are to worn by all pupils.

• For Health and Safety reasons pupils should arrive at school no earlier than 8.15am

• I would also ask that if you are bringing your child into school by car that you drop them off before getting to Addison Road rather than driving them into the school. Addison Road is a narrow, busy road which gets blocked very easily and so limiting the amount of traffic using it will be of great benefit.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer.

Yours sincerely
