A very happy New Year to you all!
In this, my first newsletter I would like to take the opportunity to let you know how very proud I am to be the Acting Headteacher of Blessed George Napier School. I am the first woman to be in the position in this excellent school and I will do my very best to lead it well over the next two terms.
Even though we are only into our third week of January the year is already proving to be most eventful. Many of you will be aware of our endeavours over the past two years to move onto a new site where we would have room to accommodate our growing numbers. Sadly our plans of moving to the Leonard Cheshire Home site in Adderbury and building a new school could not be financed. This was particularly disappointing as the other three local secondary schools are in the process of improving their facilities with money the like of which we can only dream! However, last week we were informed that Blessed George Napier School has been allocated £700,000.00 with which to refurbish the existing buildings.
We are heartened by this news and we have already been busy with the architect in preparing plans. All staff have been consulted and as soon as possible I hope to make the plans available to you and our pupils. Of course we will not be able to have all the things that a new school would bring but we will improve what we have to make a better and more attractive school for us all.
As a Voluntary Aided school we have to find 10% of the cost ourselves and so I am asking all of you to help us in whatever way you can. Some of you may work for organisations that put aside money for such projects, some of you may be good at organising fund raising events and I am hoping that you would all be as generous as you can.
As the term progresses there will be more information available about whom to contact with offers of support.
