Blessed George Napier Gains Sports College Status

The School was designated as a Specialist Sports College in September 2003.

The overall aims of the Sports College are to:

• become a centre for PE and community sport encouraging all to enjoy sport and develop a healthy lifestyle and individuals to achieve their potential in PE and sport.
• use PE and Sport to raise the standard of teaching and learning throughout the school through sharing and disseminating good practice, continuing professional development and building stronger links with partner schools.
• create opportunities for management, leadership and officiating in sport together with celebrating success and rewarding effort.
• develop the existing provision and opportunities for those with greatest potential to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable.
• play a central role in the development of sport for the disabled within schools and the wider community.
• promote and provide coach education and recreational sport opportunities in the wider community.

The Sports College has recently opened 2 new facilities:

• A Sports Hall
• A full sized Astroturf
