Dear Parent / Guardian

RE: Youth Choir – Extra Practice for Barcelona &
Pre-Tour Concert

The concert tour to Barcelona is now only two weeks away and I feel it is necessary to call an extra practice to attend to the finer details. This will be on Saturday 12th July from 1pm until 4pm with a barbeque lunch provided. This should be a good social experience for the group as well as giving us the opportunity to polish our performance.

The pre-tour concert will be on Monday 14th July at 7pm. Wine and soft drinks will be available and entrance is free. Before the concert we intend to hold a short meeting for parents to discuss our itinerary and answer any questions you may have regarding the trip. This will begin at 6.15pm.

The only excursion that we are planning whilst we are away that needs to be pre-paid is a whole day trip to Port Aventura Theme Park on Saturday 19th July. The cost for the entrance and unlimited rides will be £15.40. I would be grateful to receive this by Monday 7th July. Please make cheques payable to BGN School.

I shall be sending out a further information letter next week detailing departure times and what to bring etc. as our final itinerary is arranged.

With thanks for your support.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parents/Guardian

RE: Proposed Youth Choir Tour to Barcelona – July 2008

It is now almost three years since the Youth Choir last toured abroad, and as the New York idea proved too expensive, I am proposing what will hopefully be a much more affordable option for all.

Quite a few of the older members of the choir will be leaving us in the summer and I thought it would be appropriate to mark their long and faithful service by organising a concert tour to Barcelona. The tour would run from Wednesday 16th July to Tuesday 22nd July and we would be performing three concerts in the location. We will be using NST Tours, based in Blackpool, who we have travelled with on many occasions previously and who I have found to be reliable.

We would be staying at the Hotel Ramblas Miramar in the seaside resort of Calafell on the Costa Dorada, a three star hotel on a half board basis. The hotel is located on the beachfront and Calafell is famous for its glorious sandy beach. Students would be staying in 3-4 bedded rooms and all the rooms have private facilities, air conditioning and balconies. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool. In addition to performing, the area boasts many attractions for leisure pursuits, not least Barcelona itself.

The cost of the tour would be £370 travelling by coach with four nights in location. I am certain that this would be a highly enjoyable venture as well as providing an excellent focus for our rehearsals. The tour can only proceed if enough choir members can commit to it, so I would be grateful if you could complete the reply slip below and return to me by Friday 8th February at the latest, in order for me to assess whether this idea would be viable.

With thanks for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parent/Guardian

As you are aware, your child is a member of the school Youth Choir and due to this there will be a number of occasions when your son/daughter will be taken out of school.

To avoid having to contact you on every occasion, I would be obliged if you will sign the permission slip below to give your consent to allow your child to be absent from school.

In addition, would you please complete and return the enclosed parental consent form so that this can be held on file and the information used as and when required. The only requirement is that we should be notified immediately of any changes such as emergency contact numbers, medical conditions etc.

Thank you for your prompt attention in returning the completed parental consent form and slip below to us.

Yours sincerely
