YR 9 (CURRENT YR 8) GEOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP SWANAGE, DORSET
7TH – 9TH OCTOBER 2008

23rd June 2008

Dear Parent,

We are organising a really interesting and fun fieldtrip to Swanage, Dorset for pupils who will be in Year 9 next year. There will be limited places available as we intend to visit a range of local places and undertake practical activities including:

• Swanage Beach and Town study
• Corfe Castle – steam railway trip, visit Corfe Castle settlement study
• Lyndhurst – New Forest Visitor Centre
• Lulworth Cove – geology, sea erosion and tourism
• Tyneham – abandoned village
• Purbeck Stone Quarry

The cost of the visit is £125 and this includes:

• Accommodation at Swanage Youth Hostel
• Breakfast, evening meal and packed lunch
• Use of classroom facilities
• Coach travel for the duration of the trip
• Insurance
• All entry fees and visits.

The youth hostel has accommodation arranged in rooms for small groups of pupils together with a restaurant offering a choice of meals, TV room and a pool table. It is located close to the town centre allowing easy access to the town centre.

This is a really good opportunity to explore geographical themes and it links very closely with Yr 9 topics and GCSE Geography. Please complete the permission slip and consent form and return together with a non-refundable deposit of £25.00 (cash or cheque, to be made to Blessed George Napier School) in a named, sealed envelope. This should be handed to Mrs Peyton-Bruhl by Monday 14th July. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S. Moss
Assistant Headteacher
