English
The English Department at BGN is staffed by four full-time and one part-time member of staff and we are proud of our very good GCSE and A Level results over a number of years.
All students are taught in mixed ability groups for Years 7 and 8 and then arranged into sets for Years 9 – 11.
GCSE
Almost all students are entered for English and English Literature GCSE at the end of Year 11. Syllabus details are as follows:
AQA English Specification A 3702 (40% coursework)
AQA English Literature Specification A 3712 (30% coursework)
Students are entered for either the Higher or Foundation tier paper, according to ability.
AS/A2 (from September 2008)
In Years 12 and 13, there are usually two groups of students in each year group, following the AS (Year 12) and then A2 (Year 13) syllabus, details of which are:
