History Course Overview:
Key Stage 3
Pupils follow the National Curriculum and study mainly British History, beginning in Year 7 with Romans and the Middle Ages. In Year 8 we focus on Tudors and Stuarts and end the year with Black Peoples of the
Americas. Year 9 pupils study the Industrial Revolution and the Twentieth Century World.
Pupils may opt to continue their studies. We follow the OCR Modern World History BJ417. This consists of International Relations 1919 - 2005 and a depth study. The course is assessed by two written exams (75%), one internally assessed controlled task (25%).
Methods of teaching and learning vary a great deal. Our main aim is to help pupils learn about the past so that they develop a better understanding of the present and future.
Head of History - Mr Tom Troy
