History of the Sixth Form - Proud History, Bright Future

Proud history

The history of the BGN Sixth Form goes back to the time of the first Head of the school, Mr George Grimshaw.  He saw the need for young people to have the opportunity to continue their studies and develop maturity in a Christian Catholic atmosphere where they had become familiar with learning and the development of social skills.

The Sixth Form was consolidated under Mr Terry O’Flynn, the second Head, and became recognised as the viable and successful Post 16 institution that the Sixth Form is today. In recent times, the Governors have agreed a distinctive admissions policy which encourages students from other schools to join. The Sixth Form continues to grow in popularity as November last year saw a record number of applications
for the Sixth Form.

Bright future

Blessed George Napier Sixth Form does have an excellent reputation within the local community and proven record of exam success. In order to maintain both of these, we have taken additional steps to support our Year 11 students into Year12.  We are very excited about our first FLYING START DAY and the AS PREPARATION CLASSES we have offered prospective students this year and the positive impact they will have on pupil achievement.
