Lourdes 2012 Pilgrimage

Letters have now gone home to parents of children interested in taking part in the 2012 Lourdes Pilgrimage.  A non-returnable deposit of £100 is required as soon as possible to secure your child's place.

Dear Parent

You will be aware that your son/daughter expressed a wish to be part of the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in the June half term next year.

BGN has a tradition of sending one of the largest youth groups from all the schools in the Archdiocese and the year 2012 will be our twentieth consecutive pilgrimage to Lourdes and therefore very special for the school.  Whilst in Lourdes, we stay in a very good hotel, close to the Domain, the area of Lourdes owned by the Church and the place where Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette.

The young people will work in shifts with the sick pilgrims, alongside the doctors and nurses who care for them.  The cost of the pilgrimage will be approximately £800, which includes the travel by air to and from Birmingham airport.  When in Lourdes, the pupils will share a double en suite room in the hotel and have three very good meals a day and also the opportunity to visit the village of Gavarnie, high in the Pyrenees.

In order to make the pilgrimage accessible to all, we fund raise throughout the year and usually reduce each person’s cost by at least £100 per person depending, of course, on our fund raising efforts.

In order to book the hotel of our choice, we now need a deposit of £100, which is non-returnable, to secure a place for each person.  Please make the cheque payable to BGN School and mark it 'Lourdes' on the back.

We are looking forward to a really exciting and blessed pilgrimage.
